Alexandre Barbosa Reis

Professor Alexandre Reis (50 years old) has a degree in Pharmacy - Biochemistry (Clinical Analyses License) for the Federal University of Ouro Preto - UFOP (1996). Specialization in Parasitology (1998) and Doctors degree in Immunoparsitology (2001) for the Federal University of Minas Gerais - UFMG. Post Doctors in immunology (Vaccinology) by the René Rachou Research Center, Oswaldo Cruz Foundation - CPqRR/FIOCRUZ/MG (2003) and Senior Post Doctors at Laboratory of Malaria and Vector Research (USA, NIAID/NIH 2010-2011). Currently, he is an Titular Professor of Clinical Parasitology in the Department of Clinical Analyses of Pharmacy School (DEACL - UFOP) and Senior Researcher of the National Institute of Science and Technology on Tropical Diseases (INCT - DT). Current coordinator of the Post-Graduate Program in Biological Sciences, NUPEB / UFOP. (NUPEB/UFOP); Professor Advisor in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Cipharma/EF) and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) Post-graduate Program. Moreover, he performs punctual advisory in the Program of Post Graduation in Parasitology of the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Current coordinator of the Post-Graduate Program in Biological Sciences, NUPEB / UFOP. Since 2002, he has been a partner researcher of the René Rachou Research Center (FIOCRUZ/MG) where he has advised more than 25 masters, 10 doctors and 10 post-doctors. He was the coordinator of UFOPs committee of Life Sciences, chief of the Animal Sciences Center (2009) and consultant member of the chamber of Biological and Biotechnological Sciences of the Foundation of Research Support of Minas Gerais (2009 - 2011), besides being Ad hoc consultant of the National Council of Research (CNPq) and external consultant of the Malaria Net in Brazil. Reviewer of over 40 scientific publications. Member of the consulting committee of the Health Ministry for the control of visceral Leishmaniasis in Brazil and of the Department of Science and Technology of the Health Ministry in Brazil. He has several patents in the Vaccinology, immunodiagnosis area and in 2013 transferred the technology of production for the LbSap vaccine against canine visceral leishmaniasis to the company Ouro Fino Agro Business. Scholarship of Scientific Productivity 1C of CNPq with experience in the areas of Immunoparasitology and Immunopathology, with emphasis in Protozoology, acting mainly in the following themes: immunopathology, cell migration, canine visceral leishmaniasis, Leishmania chagasi, dogs, vaccine and diagnosis methods development (Biotechnology).
