Studies on reproductive biology in bitches have significantly increased, which has been associated withgreater availability of pharmacological agents for the manipulation of the estrous cycle. Progestins are by farthe most commonly used agents in bitches, but more recently other drugs such as prolactin inhibitors and GnRHagonists have become available and have been shown to be useful for manipulation of reproduction in thisspecies. This work aims to make a brief review on the drugs used in the canine estrous control.(AU)
