The Brazilian Cerrado bat fauna and its conservation

Marinho-Filho, Jader

The Cerrado is a savanna-like vegetation covering an area of over 1.5 million km² in the Central Brazilian Plateau (Figure 1), at altitudes from 600 to 1400 m, and smaller isolated patches spread over the northern Brazilian Amazon. It is the second largest neotropical biome, with a total area corresponding approximately to 20% of the country, which is equivalent to the territories of Germany, France, Spain and the United Kingdom summed.
